Limericks

Recently, Mrs. Stoltz's students have been working on limericks. What is a limerick? A limerick is a light humorous, nonsensical, or bawdy verse of five anapestic (two short syllables followed by a long one) lines, usually with the rhyme scheme. Here are two limericks for you to enjoy.

Ferret by Sam Rognlie

A young man once owned a ferret

He fed it three thousand carrots

He fed it so much

It was firm to the touch

So he fed it to the parrot

Fish by Jenn Zobel-Mason

There once was a fish in the sea

Who had a very large beak

All his friends laughed at him

And said he couldn't swim

So he ate them all in one week
