Character Descriptions of Scout

By Kerry Fleet
Scout is the main character and the narrator in the book, To Kill A Mockingbird. Her brother’s name is Jem and her dad is Atticus. Most of the time she acts like a tomboy and is a little aggressive. Jem sometimes teases her by saying she acts like a girl. Scout can be very tough. On the other hand, she can be very proper around the neighborhood ladies. Once, during one of the Missionary circles Scout attended, she acted like a whole different person because she was on her best behavior. Scout is the youngest and the only girl in her family. She also loves to join in on the daily routine of tormenting Boo Radley with her brother and her friend Dill. Scout was my favorite character since she was very brave and determined. One time, while Atticus was guarding the jail cell in town from a mob, Scout talked to Mr. Cunningham and made all the men go home. She was not afraid to say what she believed.

Scout (the daughter) is the narrator of the story. She is an innocent six year old, who does not understand many things that go on in the town of Maycomb. She is a mischievous child, always finding something to do. Scout is also a tomboy, because she likes to play with her brother and summer friend, Dill. She is very open-minded, accepting, curious and independent. She is also blunt because she says what is on her mind.
