Character Descriptions of Atticus

A single father, successful lawyer, and a kind man: all these traits explain one of the main characters in To Kill A Mockingbird. His name is Atticus in the book . He teaches and learns from his children (Jem and Scout) while they go through their struggles. During the trial, he does his best to change the already decided verdict without judging the man he is defending. He is like a peaceful warrior that fights for everything right without pushing the law or the town past their limits. Atticus is a respectable and truthful man that is extremely well educated. He creates a large and wonderful role in the book while he tries to help his children understand and strive to fix the weaknesses of the South. Atticus is knowledgeable and intellectually mature. He provides stable ground in the book that pulls the children and the reader into a comfort zone.

Atticus (the father) is laid back and mellow. He is also well-educated and understands people. He is fair to everyone no matter what their race. Atticus is one of the most respected men in Maycomb. He is a single father, a teacher to the children and god-like. He never lies to the children about anything and always tells the truth.
