West Middle School Wing Principal
Mrs. Faulkner has been in education for over thirty years. She has taught both at the elementary and middle school level in the Lansing area. She has worked with Michigan State University developing both elementary and secondary mathematics curriculum. Mrs. Faulkner moved to Traverse City and began working at TCAPS in 1993 as a K-12 mathematics consultant. She has done extensive professional development both locally and nationally. She became an elementary principal at Long Lake Elementary in 2000. There, she and the staff received a grant to integrate the arts into core curriculum to improve student achievement. Harvard University teamed with Long Lake elementary and West Junior High creating materials and tools for teachers to enhance thinking in the classroom. This program has been nationally recognized with many international visitors to both sites. Mrs. Faulkner is very excited to be part of the West Middle School staff and working as the sixth grade principal. This is an exciting opportunity to be on the ground floor of creating a sixth grade environment, which supports children as they transition from elementary school.
