  FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. Where is the Boys and Girls Club located?

At WJH  School our check in and drop in area is the Gold Cafeteria area.  Site Manager’s office is located in the breezeway area by the gym.

  1. When is the Club open?

The Club is open on WJH school days from 3:00pm to 6:30pm, Monday through Friday.  During the school year, the Boys & Girls Club is closed whenever Traverse City Area Public Schools is closed or has a half-day.  The Club is also open over the lunch hour for WJH Students to use the Club Room.

  1. What is the sign-in/sign-out policy?

Unless you make other arrangements in writing, it is the Boys & Girls Club policy that members must leave under the supervision of a parent/guardian or their designated representative.  Parents may indicate, in writing on the membership application, up to four individuals or other than the parents/guardians who are authorized to pick up their child.  No child is allowed to leave with an adult other than those listed on the member application without your consent.    

Alternatively, parents/guardians may give written permission for their child to sign him/herself out for the day, allowing the child to leave with any adult or peer, at any time the child desires.

Please note that unless prior arrangements are made, once a member signs out, he/she cannot return to the Club for the day.

  1. What time is pick-up?

All Club members must be picked up or signed out by 6:30p.m., or at the conclusion of a special activity.

  1. Is there an hourly, daily, or weekly fee?

There is a one-time fee per year of $10.00.  This will cover all programs offered by the Club for one School Year.  Please make your check payable to Traverse City Area Public Schools.  Scholarships are available.  Note:  Some special Clubs may have a moderate fee.

  1. Is transportation available?

Bata Bus is available for student use.  The closest regular pick-up/drop off site is at nearby Meijer store.  For more information, contact Bata Bus at 231-941-2324.

  1. Who can attend the Boys & Girls Club?

Any young person ages 12-15 is welcome to attend, the WJH location regardless of social, racial, ethnic, economic, or religious background.  Students not enrolled at WJH are also welcome to become members and access the after-school Clubs.  Student must have a school ID or one issued by the Boys and Girls Club.

  1. Are meals provided?

A daily snack is served at 3:00pm. Dinner is not provided.
