Dear Families:

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Grand Traverse, in partnership with Traverse City West Junior High School, is excited to announce a new grant funded program for the 2007-2008 school year. We offer a wide range of programs and activities during the lunch hour and after school in five core program areas:

• Character Building, Leadership Development, and Service Learning
• Education and Career Development
• Health and Life Skills
• The Arts (Theatre, Art, Crafts, Etc.)
• Sports, Fitness, and Recreation (Gold cafeteria game room open for Students daily after School)

Beginning October 22nd, the Boys & Girls Club will offer after-school programs, from 2:42-6:30pm Monday-Friday. The after-school program will be available to all students that have registered. The annual $10.00 Membership Fee is waived until January 1^st…so register soon! Registration packets are available in each WJH grade wing office or by calling Julie Bergman, WJH Club Manager at 231-499-9094. Additional fees for special activities, or clubs may also be assessed. Scholarships are available.

The first exciting step for this new Club is to allow for the involvement of our young people in program planning. We are currently developing a student advisory committee to the Boys & Girls Club. Based upon the committee’s suggestions, we will create a comprehensive program schedule and offerings for the upcoming school year. If your student is interested in joining this advisory committee, please contact Mrs. Pam Alfieri, principal, or Mr. Dick Townsend, 9^th grade principal.

This new program joins an affiliation of over 4,300 Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the nation. Common to all of them is a strong network volunteer support. We welcome adult volunteers at lunch time and after school. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Julie Bergman, WJH Club Manager at 231-499-9074.
