Dear Parents,

The MEAP (Michigan Educational Assessment Program) will be administered October 9-27. There are several ways in which you can help your child do his/her best on these tests.

When a student completes a section of the test, it may be necessary for him/her to wait quietly while other students finish. We will provide each student with a packet of word puzzles and coloring designs to help them fill the waiting time. You may want to send a special activity book or reading book for your child. These tests are not timed so there will be waiting periods for some students.

The students may bring a small bottle of water to have available while they are testing. Many students like to bring a "study buddy" to hold while taking the test. An example of a "study buddy" would be a beanie baby or some other stuffed animal. The "study buddy" must be small enough to sit on the corner of the student's desk and can not make any type of noise.

More specific information will be sent home with your child as we get closer to the testing dates.

Sincerely,

Mary Jeffrey and Linda Thompson
