The
OMPS Library Media Center allows students to utilize the
Internet to research a vast store of information in a safe
and appropriate manner. Because the Library Media Center
subscribes to a series of data bases not available to other
Web users, students can access magazine and newspaper articles,
research reports, government documents, encyclopedias and
news services. Some of these programs are accessible for
use at home with an assigned password available through
the LMC.
Scholastic
Book Fair
Scholastic's
Book Fair comes to the library in March.
Scholastic Reading Counts
Students at Old Mission Peninsula school are participating
in Scholastic Reading Counts, a reading achievement
program with a selection of approximately 1000 book
titles. Some of these books are available in our library
or in the classrooms. Although we have 1000 book title
quizzes, we do not have all the books. Our goal is to
have as many of these books available for our students
as possible. We are continuing to purchase more books
that match the quizzes in Reading Counts. When students
have read a Reading Counts book they can come to school
and take a computer-generated comprehension quiz. All
of the Reading counts books, in our library, are marked
with a red circle sticker on the binding. Stop by the
library and check our a Reading Counts Book.
