- Double-space each entry and double-space between
entries. Note that spacing on this web page may appear otherwise
due to the limitations of the program.
- Sequence for entries is generally as follows:
author, title, place of publication, publishing company, date,
and page.
- If no author is named, begin entry with title.
- Articles are in quotes.
- Names of magazines, newspapers, etc. are underlined.
- If there is an author, it goes first (last name
first).
- Location of the publisher precedes name of publisher.
- Colon separates city from publisher.
- Entry format for date is date, month, year.
- For periodicals, date is followed by colon and
page number.

The Works Cited section of your paper
should list all the works that you
have cited in the text of your paper. If there is not a parenthetical
citation to
the source, it should not be listed.
Steps to assembling a works cited page:
- Copy information from "Works Cited" cards and use reverse
indentation.
- Double space between each entry. If a second line is needed
for an entry, indent that line and each additional line
5 spaces.
- Double space within entries.
- Include correct punctuation.
- Alphabetize according to last name of author or first word
of each entry.
