Peacemakers
Peacemakers go outside on their recesses and patrol the playground. If anyone has a conflict or dispute, they help them solve their problem by brainstorming possible ways to resolve it. On the playground something new has been recently added. It is called the peace wheel. The peace wheel helps the peacemakers work out conflicts between two students. The peace wheel has seven sections; each section has two steps to work out problems. The steps are: 1. Name the problem 2. Name your feelings 3. Say what you want or need from the person 4. Brainstorm solutions 5. Talk over all ideas 6. Pick a positive solution together 7. Try it out. The peacemaker will literally walk the students through the steps to make "peace" of the conflict. Peace Maker Celebration 2005 Last year Peacemakers were rewarded by going to the Peace Maker Celebration if they had a attendance of 70% or higher. It takes place at Central High School and all the elementary Peacemakers work together while playing many exciting games. They eat lunch, march in a parade with the marching band, and get split in to groups of about ten people in each. Volunteer students are group leaders and there are two of them in each group.
