The mission of historic Central Grade School, a center for diversified cultural and educational opportunities, is to enable students and families to achieve their fullest potential by promoting lifelong learning, cultivating talents as valued community members, and developing skills to face the challenges of our changing environment.

About Central Grade
Central School...where lifelong learning begins. Our school community is characterized by a diverse student body. We currently house 530 students. This includes 338 regular education, 141 talented and gifted, and 51 special education students. While some students are transported from all over our district, as well as from other districts, over 200 Central Grade students students walk to school. This historic, brick building is located in the heart of Olde Towne Traverse City. Its recent renovation has preserved our oldest neighborhood school.
