Getting Ready for Kindergarten
To meet the needs of families with kindergarten age children in the district, TCAPS offers three kindergarten options: Young Fives, All Day/Alternate Day Kindergarten, and Montessori. In February, parents of incoming kindergarteners have the opportunity to learn more about these options at kindergarten parent meetings scheduled at each elementary school. These meetings will provide parents with information to make enrollment decisions and better prepare their child for school.
All incoming kindergarteners and their parents will want to attend "Way to Grow", Kindergarten Kids Club and Kindergarten Roundup events scheduled for April and May. Kindergarten Kids Club provides a variety of activities for children, with their parents, to become acquainted with the people, places, and routines at the school where they will be entering kindergarten. At Kindergarten Roundup, parents have time to talk with the principal and school nurse while completing enrollment forms. Children receive screenings for vision and hearing along with a "Getting Ready for Kindergarten" packet.
