Brass
Many sixth graders choose to join brass or woodwinds. Most chose to join the Brass group. Dave Cowperthwaite directs the band and percussion. The brass performs with the woodwinds in school wide performances.
Woodwinds
Although many people choose to join in brass there are still quite a few that join the woodwinds group. There are five different woodwind instruments. They are the Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Clarinet, Oboe, and the Flute. Directed by Steve Weldon the woodwinds have been doing a fantastic job this year. On December 12, the brass, string, and the woodwind groups perform for the first time in Lars Auditorium.
