About Intramurals Intramurals are fun sports for kids to play, and are popular activities at Central Grade. Many of our students prefer being involved in these sporting events instead of going outdoors when it is really cold. Only 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students are allowed to participate. The games are played during the lunch hours in the winter months, after students finish their lunches every Monday and Friday. The sports include basketball, floor hockey, and volleyball. Every homeroom receives a sign up sheet, and after all students that want to participate have signed up the list is sent to Mr. Farley, the physical education teacher. He organizes all Intramural sports. Mr. Farley cannot ref all of the games at once, so he asks Central 4th, 5th and 6th grade teachers to help him (See Coaches and Referees). Most of the children here enjoy Intramurals very much.
Below is a list of the sports that are offered and details about them.
Basketball Intramurals have championship playoffs after the scheduled games. Basketball is the first intramural sport played each year. It starts in the month of mid-November and run until mid-December.
Floor Hockey is too dangerous to have playoff games. Floor Hockey is the second intramural sport that the students play. It starts in the month of early January and goes to mid-February.
Volleyball is the third and last intramural sport played. Volleyball starts in about mid-February and ends before spring break.
