Humor Awards Ceremony
The “Humor Awards” were held in Lars on February 22, 2008. There were two special guests, Scott Hardy from Arms and Cole who presented Mrs. Dionne with a check for $500.00 to help families in our community and Toma the Mime. The following students and staff received awards:
Gabriel H. J1 – who uses his humor to show his classmates when he is passionate about something.
Philip H. J1 – He has a wonderful way of making his classmates laugh and his humor encourages his classmates to see things differently.
Joe L. 6S – Joe regularly enjoys bringing humor into the classroom and is clever in his delivery. He particularly enjoys political humor that is current and sophisticated.
Morgan H. 6S – Morgan is clever and witty. She is able to find something to smile about in most situations. Morgan often helps her class laugh at the humor of the moment.
Ben C. 6W – Ben is a very upbeat positive fifth grader. He always has a smile and his humor always hits the right note during the school day.
Angelika D. 6B - She has a terrific sense of humor! She loves to tell funny stories and jokes to make others laugh. Whenever she sees someone she is sad, she does her best to make him or her smile. Angelika always uses her humor at appropriate times and in appropriate ways. She brightens everyday!
Robert W. 6 B – He has a great smile, and loves to laugh! He can always produce a smile with his crazy facial expressions, and he enjoys sharing funny comments to make us all laugh. Robert’s awesome sense of humor is greatly appreciated!
Sean O 5T – Sean provides us with a healthy dose of medicine each day. Sean is quick-witted, light-hearted, and enjoys word play. No matter what the situation is, Sean always finds its underlying humor. He makes us laugh during those moments of uncertainty, and reminds us not to take ourselves too seriously. Sean uses his good sense of humor to improve our school climate. He is a real asset to our class.
Nick P. 3D – He not only has a good sense of humor, but he also en\joys the humor or others. He has a bright smile and he has the ability to change his facial expression in such a way that we all just have to smile. His classmates said, “He makes me laugh!”
Cody C. 6C – Cody does a wonderful job using his sense of humor. He always brings a smile to everyone’s face.
Marie L. 6C – She has a wonderful sense of humor. She always uses it appropriately. She is always kind when using her sense of humor.
Cobe F. 5K – Cobe always has a smile on his face and has a way of making everyone laugh. Cobe has a great sense of humor and his very animated when he talks. He brings a lot of fun into our classroom on a daily basis.
Abigail S 5K – Abigail is a very good actress. She seems to makes us laugh every time she reads or presents something in class. She has a wonderful sense of humor and always knows how to cheer others up by using her humor.
Corey W. – Mrs. Hissong’s class – If you’re having a bad day, Corey W. can certainly bring a smile to your face. He has a dry sense of humor, and he likes to joke. Everyone really enjoys his wonderful sense of humor!
Christi D. 6T – Christi is always smiling and maintains a positive, “can do” attitude for people and fro schoolwork. She uses her humor to help us look differently at challenging or awkward situations and to keep the class energized. Her quips are delivered kindly and add lightheartedness to the classroom.
Michael S. 6T – He sees the world from a unique perspective and has the ability to use vocabulary in cleaver, unexpected ways. His commentary in class often pertains to the subject at hand but entertains a new way of looking at an idea that makes it funny or unusual. His endless creativity can add a humorous dimension at any moment.
Pierce C. 5S – Pierce used his infectious laugh to lighten our classroom and contribute to a fun-filled atmosphere!
Nick F. 4O – He is very kind, compassionate and happy young man. A great thing about him is that when he is happy he shares it with the class. Nick tells funny jokes that are friendly to his peers. When you are feeling down, Nick is the person who tries to cheer you up or offers you a listening ear. As one classmate wrote,” He’s the joy to the class.”
Ross W 3D – Ross shows his humor in many ways at school. His writing often has humorous plots and even the names of the characters bring a smile to our faces. He also finds interesting responses and techniques to games, discussions and questions. When his third grade classes was asked who has a great sense-of-humor, his name came up often!
Nick P. 3D – Not only does Nick have a good sense of humor but he also enjoys the humor of others. He has a bright smile and he has the ability to change his facial expression, in such a way, that we all just have to smile. His class mentioned his name many times when asked who has a good sense of humor. They said, “He makes me laugh!”
Jackie K. 4M – Jackie exemplifies a sense of humor in thought, word, and deed. She always has a funny saying to make us laugh, and in her writing, she created hilarious characters, scenes and dialog. Jackie is a real comic and she makes everyone happy!
Henry D. 1C – Henry is such a joy to have in the classroom. He is very witty and has a way to make everybody laugh. Henry ahs really contributed to the growth of our happy classroom by continually setting a good example with his sense of humor.
Mrs. Candy Davis – Mrs. Davis is recognized for her humor that contributes and affects the students and staff in a positive and enjoyable way. She is very good at making people feel at home in the library. We read her humor each time we come into the library. No matter what book genre, she makes them fun and gives each character a personality when you read. Even though she likes it quiet, her sense of humor is not. We love your crocodile smile.
Mr. Steve Balcom: Mr. Balcom was the surprise nomination at the “Humor Awards”.
There is a person who brings smiles to our school
This person is simply funny
Besides being extremely cool!
Central grade is a happier place
Each day in the hall
When we see this smiling face
The hilarious birthday cards and computer printouts
Are all in the extreme
But so is this person, if you know what I mean
You may think this is a student
But you would be wrong
This is a teacher
Whose humor is strong.
The Wizard of Oz is part of his fun
He May dress as Dorothy at Halloween
Or maybe the Good Witch
Whichever he picks, he is such a stitch!
In case you haven’t yet guessed
Who this teacher is
We would like to bow and applaud
Him for his ingenious
He doesn’t go by Malcom
He is our wonderful Mr. Balcom!
